Meet Lauren

Hello! I am a mom to 3 amazing teenagers, the oldest of which is in her first year of college. I was Director of Education at a local Unitarian Universalist Fellowship for many years where I led children of all ages in thoughtful art projects, theater productions, and yoga, mindfulness, and meditation activities. I have also been a secular homeschool teacher for over for 12 years and participated in many community run co-ops as well as hosting poetry circles, bookclubs, teaching yoga, science based curricula and so so so much nature and art!!! My oldest child was homeschooled to an Ivy League University. As a yoga instructor for 10 years, I have run children's yoga and mindfulness classes at co-ops and principally at a local yoga studio for 6 years. My passions are nature based learning (I am an amateur herbalist and love learning- and teaching- about plants and flowers, Read more and being outside), reading to children (my home library consists of hundreds and hundreds of children's books), and healthy cooking- our family has always had a garden and have been members of a local organic community supported garden for the past 15 years. Cooking with kids from seed to the table is really fun! I have also been a substitute teacher in both NJ and PA schools and an assistant coach, teaching yoga to high school football and track teams, as well as a once a week class to 1st and second graders at a nature based charter school. I so look forward to working with a family who values their children's needs above all else, supports play based learning, and wants a caregiver whose life has been devoted to nurturing children and encouraging their individual lights to shine.
