Hi! My name is Kayla, and I'm a longtime early childhood educator and new mom looking to connect with a local family seeking a nurturing, Montessori-inspired environment for their little one. I have 10+ years of professional experience working with young children, primarily in the Loudoun County area. Throughout my career, l've served as a Teacher, Assistant Director, Senior Assistant Head of School, and Head of School, with the latter part of my career spent in the Montessori community. I also have several years of private nannying and babysitting experience. Since becoming a mom, l've been looking for a way to combine two things I love: being present with my almost one-year-old daughter while continuing to teach, nurture, and support young children. I would love to find a family whose child could spend their days learning and growing alongside her. We live in the Harpers Ferry/Bakerton area, near Shepherdstown, and Read more have created a beautiful Montessori-inspired space in our home for young children. Our days would follow a calm, nurturing rhythm with Montessori-inspired activities, practical life, art, sensory exploration, books, music, movement, independent play, and plenty of outdoor time. We especially love nature and being outside! I hold a college degree in General Studies and am CPR and MAT certified, with experience caring for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and young children. I'm passionate about respectful caregiving, independence, child-led learning, and creating meaningful connections. I'm primarily seeking a part-time arrangement but am flexible with days and hours. Care would take place in our home, although l'm open to morning pick-up and afternoon drop-off if helpful. Most importantly, I hope to find a family who values a small, loving, home-like environment where their child receives individualized attention, spends lots of time outdoors, and has a little companion to learn and grow alongside.
