Newborn Care Specialist available for overnight newborn care in May!! I have always enjoyed learning about children and their developmental stages. As a bilingual in Spanish and English, my love of languages has transferred to children by talking to them in Spanish, to help them learn a new language - even if only one or two words. I am currently working as a newborn care specialist, offering support during overnight hours as parents transition into parenthood. I officially started babysitting in 2013, during the summer between college semesters. I worked with 2 families caring for 4 total children between 3 and 9 years old. I would stay the day with them and provided breakfast, lunch, snacks as well as supervised swimming and reading time. In 2014, during my last semester in college, I worked part time a a date night sitter to a toddler. I would stay the night while Read more the parents went out, soothed the toddler if he woke up, and help in the morning with play time, stories and songs after breakfast. After graduating with a BA in Psychology and Linguistics, specifically focusing on Child and Language development. I began working as a nanny for 6 months for 2 toddlers (14m and 3 years), while also working as a sitter on and off for 2 other families with 3 year olds. As a nanny my tasks included meal prep, library and play date outings, baths and bedtime routine. In January of 2015 I began working as a lab manager for the Princeton Baby Lab, learning more about child development, including creating research studies to learn more about language development, as well as working with families to better help them understand our work. During my time in Princeton I worked with 4 different families, all with children between 9m and 6 years old. Overall, duties included: meal prep, play time, reading, singing, dropping off at daycare, baths, participating in bed time routines, and cleanup. Upon returning to Providence, I began working with families who recently welcomed newborns and applying the knowledge I learned in my Newborn Care Specialist course and Lactation Educator courses. I was with my long term family for 4 years before transition to NCS!
