Meet Sonia
Hello, my name is Sonia Okumu. I'm a 22-year-old college student with a lot of energy and a passion for childcare, and I'm looking for a part-time babysitting position. Growing up in Poughkeepsie, NY, and coming from a big family, I have lots of experience taking care of children. After high school, I started charging for my services to make some extra money for college. I've worked for the Dere family, who have a joyful 2-year-old named Eden, and I've been working for them since he was 8months old. I've also worked for the Juma family, who have a wonderful 7-year-old named Emmanuel. Emmanuel was born with sickle cell, so his care needs special attention. I educated myself on the medications he took as well as the signs of crisis. I am CPR and first aid certified and have most of my experience working with toddlers and young children. Sonia has been with our family since September 2024, starting when our son was 8 months old. Over that time, she proved herself to be completely trustworthy and reliable, qualities that matter most when leaving your child in someone's care. She took care of our son like he was her own, doing fun activities like playing with him, reading to him, and working on numbers, colors, and ABCs.
