Hey there, friends! I'm Jess, a senior at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, studying child and disability psychology. I grew up in Littleton, Colorado, right outside of Denver. Childcare has been my calling and passion since I was a young teenager, when I first started babysitting and nannying. I've had jobs outside childcare, but nothing has ever felt as right for me as childcare does. I started babysitting at 14 for neighbors, and have built a furthering career in childcare since then. I was a child's swim teacher at LifeTime Fitness 2019 - 2021, where I organized and implemented age-appropriate swimming lessons for children aged 2 - 12 and maintained a safe and supportive environment that ensured the well-being of all participants involved. I was a Science Matters teacher during the summers of 2022 - 2023, where I implemented engaging STEM-based lesson plans and activities, worked with learners of Read more diverse abilities from K-8th grade, and encouraged and incorporated hands-on projects, experiments, and real-world applications to enhance STEM understanding. During my freshman to junior year of college, I was a classroom assistant UCCS Family Development Center, where I assisted the lead teacher in implementing age-appropriate activities, supported classroom management, created a positive and inclusive learning environment, and supervised and engaged with children during playtime, mealtime, and nap time. I was a Behavioral Technician at the Forget-Me-Not Autism clinic for a summer and plan to return to similar work after college. During my time, I provided direct one-on-one therapy to clients with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities, collaborated with families, caregivers, and other professionals to support client progress and generalization of skills, and utilized reinforcement strategies to encourage positive behaviors and skill development. I am fluent in English and know basic ASL signs. I am CPR First Aid certified, comfortable with diapers, toileting, bathtime, mealtime, and bedtime. Currently, I nanny and babysit for other families and am looking for part-time work during the summer! During the school year, my schedule gets a little busier as I have an on-campus job supporting adult college students with cognitive disabilities on top of my classes. I'd love to get to know you and your family!
