Hi there! My name is Mercedes. I am currently unemployed and recently just got married. The only job that I do is help my family care for their children! I have a 10 year old little sister named Cici that is my youngest sibling and I have cared for her since she was born because both of my parents work full time. I moved out last year and I haven’t been caring for her 5 days a week like I always did but I still care for her on her days off of school and occasionally take her to and from school, cheer practice, play dates, etc. I also care for my little brother-in-law whenever he is on breaks from school and I take him to and from school whenever help is needed. We always have him over on the weekends and I have helped care for him since he Read more was born as well. (For reference my husband and I are HS sweethearts and have been together for 10 years!) My little brother’s name is Jacob. He is on the spectrum but he is very high functioning and thrives in social environments. Dr’s told us that he would be non-verbal but he communicates extremely well and loves to play with other kids. He has such a gentle heart and is an amazing kid. I also help watch 2 of my nieces and 1 of my nephews that range from ages 3-8. Since I haven’t been working, caring for these children in our family has been my job! I do get paid occasionally for helping but I also just do it out of my heart because it is my family. My last job was in July of 2025 and I worked as a school photographer for children. I photographed students from PRE-K- 12 grade and went to a different school every single day! We also had many special needs students ranging from less to more severe cases and overall this whole experience was wonderful for me. I have always helped care for the children in our family even when I myself was a child, and I have always had a passion for pursuing some kind of career with children. I am working on applying to schools at the moment and I’d love to work as a teacher aide, that is my next goal.
