Why do you love being a sitter? I truly love being a sitter because I enjoy creating a safe, loving, and nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and feel supported. Being part of their daily development, helping them build confidence, and creating meaningful connections with families is incredibly rewarding to me. I love bringing patience, creativity, structure, and warmth into every child’s routine. What experience do you have? I have experience caring for infants, toddlers, and school-age children through nanny positions, babysitting, and childcare programs. I currently work with families in the Arlington and Washington DC area, helping with daily routines, feeding schedules, naps, educational activities, bedtime routines, and emotional development. I also support families with light housekeeping, meal preparation, organization, and creating structured routines for children. What skills and training do you have? I am currently completing my CDA (Child Development Associate) certification and have training in child Read more development, safety, healthy routines, and age-appropriate activities. I am experienced with infant care, sleep routines, potty training support, Montessori-inspired activities, positive guidance, and developmental play. I am also part of the temporary division of White House Nannies, which has strengthened my professional childcare experience and family support skills.

Our wonderful Wendy worked with our family as a part time nanny, but in truth she became so much more than that. She was a vital part of our daily lives. She was truly exceptional in every way, going above and beyond in everything she did. Her main responsibility was picking up our children from school and getting them to their activities, and we always had COMPLETE peace of mind knowing they were with her. She is an incredibly responsible and attentive driver, but more importantly, she always made our children’s safety and comfort her top priority. Beyond being remarkably reliable and organized, what makes Wendy truly special is the warmth and light she brings into a home. She had a natural gift for connecting with our children, balancing a fun with the structure and consistency they needed and was always interested in keeping us on the loop with new ways on how to improve our routines. We are deeply grateful for the care and heart she put into her time with us. We would love to have her back at any point in the future, in fact, she is the very first person we would call if our family grows or if our needs change. We recommend our dear Wendy with all our heart, any family would be INCREDIBLY lucky to have her ❤️

We feel incredibly lucky to have had Ms. Wendy as our nanny during such an important stage in our baby’s development. When we started working with her, our baby was around 4 months old. From day one, Ms. Wendy brought a sense of calm, structure, and deep expertise that immediately reassured us. What truly sets Ms. Wendy apart is that her approach to sleep training is clearly grounded in science. She took the time to understand our baby’s temperament and built a plan based on age-appropriate sleep needs, always explaining the “why” behind each step. It never felt rigid or one-size-fits-all, everything she did was thoughtful, responsive, and intentional. She was incredibly patient and consistent, guiding both our baby and us through the process with so much care. As parents, we felt supported every step of the way. Within a couple of weeks, we saw an improvement, bedtime became smoother, night wakings reduced significantly, and our baby learned to self-soothe and sleep for longer, more restful stretches. Beyond her knowledge and skill, Ms. Wendy is simply a wonderful person. She is warm, trustworthy, and deeply attentive. One thing we especially appreciated was her incredible attention to detail. We always felt that our baby was not only safe, but genuinely cared for and understood. We absolutely loved having Ms. Wendy with our family and cannot recommend her highly enough to any parents looking for a compassionate, professional nanny, especially one with a science-based approach to sleep training.

I am pleased to provide a reference for Wendy Amaya, who worked with my family caring for my baby, Juliette. She was with us for approximately 6–8 months in a full-time role, working about 10 hours per day. During her time with us, she consistently demonstrated a high level of professionalism, reliability, and trustworthiness. She created a safe, nurturing, and calm environment for my baby and followed daily routines with great attention and care. She was attentive to my child’s needs, patient, and genuinely caring. I always felt completely comfortable and confident leaving my baby in her care, which is very important for any parent. In addition to her childcare skills, she maintained clear communication and was always respectful and dependable. I highly recommend her to any family seeking a dedicated and trustworthy nanny!! Sincerely, Rachel B.

Wendy is the nanny that everyone hopes for when they are looking for a nanny! Her natural motherly instincts shine through. The care and attention that she paid to our children, and the scientific approach that she took in training our newborn, all the way up through walking and talking, was more than we could have ever expected, but all that we hoped for. Wendy Amaya has our highest recommendation!
