My history of childcare includes 15+ years of primarily in-home experience. This includes both big groups and 1:1 care with a variety of ages, from infant to teen. I feel strongly that every family is different and that all families get to decide what works for their kids and for them in their home. The structure of care I provide for a family’s child depends on what that family prefers. When it comes to enforcing household rules, I am comfortable and consistent in my approach. I think structure is super important for children and I strive to provide that as best I can in all possible situations. That being said, I fly by the seat of my pants very well. I think flexibility is an important skill to have when children are involved. I enjoy a variety of activities, including outdoor play, sports (I’m a track and field coach!), lots Read more of art and crafts and educational games that promote learning. My home is frequented by quite a few kiddos as a safe and comfortable space for game nights and school project help. Sometimes the herd ends up on the trampoline in the back yard, sometimes it’s a dance party or (parent approved) video games. I enjoy it as much as the kids do. I’m patient, creative and friendly but can be firm when it’s required. I’m not pushy, I let kids steer the “getting to know you” stages. I have experience with children on the spectrum, ADHD and learning disabilities. I’m not afraid of sick kids and am happy to help with homework. Pets are no problem. I enjoy putting meals and snacks together and as time allows, helping with light housekeeping and laundry. My non-child work experience includes residential housekeeping and organization as well as hospital environmental services (housekeeping/infection prevention). I have experience with and am open to the following: Sick child care (too sick for school or childcare) – in my home or yours Extracurricular activity assistance – getting kids to or from events and/or staying with them through the event (swimming lessons, sports, birthday parties, etc) Homework and project help Overnight care for parents working odd shifts or needing quiet time away from home and kids :) I’m adventurous and creative – if you have an outside the box kind of situation you need help with, let’s talk!
