I've worked with many kids throughout my life, starting out with my little brother who is a decade younger than me. I'd watch him growing up as a toddler when my mom had to work. In later years, during high school, I started baby sitting for a single mother who had long work hours and two kids (boy and a girl) between the ages of 7-10. I'd help them with their homework, math in particular is my specialty (I have a finance degree), I'd make sure to feed them dinner, pick them up from school, take them to practice, etc. and the last family I babysat for was a young couple (both working professionals) who had a 6 month old baby. I kept her engaged, played with her, tried teaching her colors through various toys she had at the time, changed diapers when needed, kept up with her feeding schedule, Read more made sure we got her tummy time in, and kept her safe from any harm (corners/ edges of furniture, etc). I practice good judgement and am very cautious with children this age. Their safety and well being is of the upmost importance.
