Hi! My name is DeAnna, I’m a high school educator heading into my ninth school year teaching. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and worked each year of school. With my degree, I have a keen understanding of childhood development, emotional needs and regulation, and more. My main jobs were at Costco, where I got my Food Safety certification, and substitute teaching, where I cared for students from kindergarten through 12th grade. I started grad school while in my second year of my professional career, and earned a Masters in Teaching, focused on secondary social studies. I’ve taught 20th word century world history, AP world history, US history, advanced psychology, and a senior elective focused on the parallels between history and comic books. I’m certified in mental health first aid, wilderness first aid, general first aid, seizure first aid, medication administration, and CPR. As a part time school leader, Read more I’ve also led all school curriculum and professional development trainings focused on ELL support, socioemotional development, empathy development, and identity development. When it comes to special needs, my first job was working as a camp counselor in high school at a developmental center serving youth with special needs. In college, I was following an Applied Behavior Analysis track before switched to general high school education - in that track I fulfilled the course requirements to serve as a registered behavior technician. I have a valid drivers license but cannot see well at night due to an astigmatism, so I would not drive children after dark. I can run errands, cook, I’m an animal lover and pet mom myself, I’m a lover of comic books, kids movies, and more!
