Hi there! My name is Greta and I just started my first co op experience (similar to an internship) at Perkins&Will in Chicago. I am majoring in Communication Design at the University of Cincinnati and I'm on track to have minors in Psychology and Screenwriting. Outside of school I like to paint, draw, and sculpt, and I run a very small business selling clay pieces (it's very new and definitely still experimental, but growing!). I babysat for nine years back home in Cleveland and I was lucky enough to nanny for a wonderful family in Northern Kentucky over this past summer, and I am excited to get to know some families around Chicago to help out throughout the next few months! Between the 25+ families I have worked for, I have experience with 5 week olds through 14 year olds. I worked as a summer nanny for five years and Read more I babysat on most weekends and many week nights as well. I am also comfortable with overnights! I love to cook/bake and I love to turn it into a kid-friendly activity, I tutored throughout high school so I'm happy to help with homework, and I grew up playing sports and spending most of my time outdoors so I'm very comfortable on that front as well! I have a car and am willing to commute to wherever needed and transport children whenever necessary. Through the years I have worked for families with dogs, cats, lizards, Guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters, snakes, hermit crabs, turtles, birds, and fish. I have two cats back home in Cleveland and one little kitten who lives with me when I'm back in Cincinnati :) I grew up going to a Montessori school so my mindset when working with children is to facilitate learning and independence in every possible situation. Communication is key both between parents and caregivers in a professional sense, and between caregivers and children in the sense that we are all able to express feelings, needs, and reasoning through words. I also grew up in a no-screens during the week household so I know how to come up with creative activities to entertain kids outside of a tv or tablet! I do enjoy the occasional movie night or video game sesh too :) My dad is a graphic designer so art has always been a part of my life, from finger-painting to sculpting with clay and play dough to coming up with creative ways to combine a myriad of different materials. Arts and crafts with kids is especially enjoyable because of their wide range of imaginative interpretations!
