References available upon requests (and after phone or in-person interview). I am big on play and adventures! I love imagination play, art, dance parties, and reading. I normally do not watch television with children while babysitting. If it's part of a routine and the parents prefer we watch TV then of course we can. I feel strongly that a house should be as clean or cleaner than parents left it. Of course, I wait until children are asleep to do any cleaning, so it depends on how late the night goes. My first priority is the kids have fun (and are safe). In 2018, I earned a Master of Arts in Teaching and hold a valid Oregon & Washington Teaching License. During the 2016/2017 school year, I was a paraeducator with Portland Public schools. In 2018/2019 I was a second grade teacher in Washington. For the last two years, I Read more have been a part time substitute teacher in Washington. From 2010-2016, I was a full time nanny for three different families. I was also a date night babysitter during that time for the families and their friends (as well as people I met on here). Starting in 2010 and up until August 2014, I worked as a respite caregiver for Channel Islands Social Services. This is an organization that provides care to children on the Autism spectrum. In 2014, I volunteered twice a week (all day) at a local elementary school within the classroom. This includes teaching the whole class and/or running small learning groups. The grades I worked with are third and fifth. Over the summer of 2014, I was the director of a science summer camp for kids ranging from 5 to 11 years old. I have a bachelor of arts degree in speech pathology with a minor in family studies from California State University, Northridge. I also have my certificate in Early Childhood Education from Moorpark Community College. Additionally, I have two associates degrees: behavioral science and speech language pathology assistant. I am also a certified car seat technician and have my own car seat if I need to drive your child (can be used for any age). In my free time, I volunteer for CASA (court appointed special advocate) for children in foster care due to abuse and/or neglect.

We have had Shannon watch our girls a few times now and she is great. Even had her watch our friend's kids along with ours as they were visiting from our of town and she was a pro. One of their boys (7yo) got home sick while we were gone and she had him listen to a guided meditation to calm him and he fell asleep in minutes. Highly recommended!

Shannon is great. She played with our boys and didn't resort to screen time once. Our home was always as clean as we left it, but a majority of the time left cleaner! She also made sure our boys received a healthy lunch....which isn't an easy task with my picky eaters! Many times I would come home to beautifully thought out art projects based on what my boys were interested in at the moment. She also taught them things based on their interest. I highly recommend her for anyone. She is so sweet and so accommodating! It was never an issue if I needer her to stay an extra hour or come early. We love Shannon!

We had Shannon watch our daughter for an evening and when we got home we noticed 2 incredible things that have never happened before. The first was our daughter was in bed asleep! That NEVER happens! No one has been able to get her to do that before. The second was that she emptied out the dishwasher and put everything away for us. The kiddo had a great time with her and wants her to come back. Thank you, Shannon, for taking such good care of us!

Shannon took care of our daughter (currently 5 months old) 8 times in the last five weeks as an interim nanny and also one evening. I couldn't give her a high enough rating! She was absolutely wonderful with our little girl and I trusted her entirely. Shannon has a very calm and positive presence, as soon as I met her I felt at ease to leave my daughter in her care. She was always on time, highly communicative, flexible, and I could tell that she enjoyed spending time with our baby, which made leaving my daughter that much easier. She demonstrated great knowledge and experience with infant care. Shannon went above and beyond during her time in our home, taking care of the little things you just can't seem to get to as parents, and even taking our dog on a walk with the baby - every time, rain or shine! We really appreciated Shannon's caring and calm presence and will hire her again whenever we need a date night! Thanks Shannon!

Out in Thousand Oaks for a family wedding, we were initially anxious about leaving our 14 month old with someone new on a website that we had never used before. Let me just tell you, we couldn't have asked for anyone better! Shannon was perfect: playful, responsible, responsive, flexible, understanding and experienced. She went above and beyond a regular sitter, accommodating our crazy wedding schedule and our daughter who was adjusting from the east coast time zone. She entertained her with great care and kept our daughter's attention longer than more. To put it simply, I highly recommend Shannon.

I absolutely love Shannon! She is such a well rounded, calm and attentive caregiver, babysitter and mommy helper! Shannon watched my son for two months and DJ just loved spending time with her! She took him on outings and specifically looked for activities that were tailored to his age group. She allowed him to explore and came up with creative ways to keep in intrigued. DJ was very comfortable with Shannon, he never cried or put up a fuss when I left, he waved good bye, blew me a kiss and was good to go!! I truly enjoyed the time with Shannon and would call her in the future if she is still available!! I will miss her tremendously! I have referred her to a few of my friends to help out with their kids too!!
