Hi there! I'm Mel. I love to play, hang out with and talk to kids/teens, I think they're some of the most interesting human beings in this world and part of what gives life meaning. I've been babysitting since I was about 15 y/o, helping take care of other family members' kids and/or their friends'. Coming out of college, I took a sales and personal soccer trainer job that required building training plans for and training people from very young kids ~3 year-olds to professional level, and I must admit that training the little kids and teenagers was my favorite part. I made sure to make the session interactive and fun so that they left feeling excited not only about the sport and in a better mood, but so they also had something to look forward to after school, which would be their overall experience with me as their trainer. Read more I can cook basic meals and am good at following recipes, prepare snacks, and come up with interactive games/activities. I currently work in sales, but I finish work kind of early (~3-4pm), so I figured I'd do this on the side and add more excitement to my life as well by taking care of, playing/hanging out with kids, and helping however else needed. I studied psychology in college (UCLA), and a couple of the classes I had to take were Social Psych (people in a group setting), Digital Media and Human Development (electronics/apps/video games and their impact on humans' dev), and Developmental Psych (humans' dev and critical life periods, such as from newborn to early childhood to one's formative years and how that looks later in life), so I'd like to think I'm aware of and quite familiar with how to approach kids/teenagers, while taking into account different personalities, temperaments, and maturity/dev levels. Overall, I consider myself an outgoing, down to earth, family-oriented, athletic, artistic, and super energetic person. I'm often told that I always have a smile on my face and have a positive/optimistic outlook on life. I've been an athlete my whole life (cycling, soccer, hiking), produce and mix music, do photography, love to write and read, explore/adventure the outdoors/nature, and travel. Should you have any questions/concerns, please feel free to let me know!
