Hello, I’m Nancy. I took a Babysitting Course through the Red Cross & began watching friends & family members’ children while I was fairly young. I believe I was 11 or 12…..I couldn’t wait! I went away to college and would come home on the weekends just to babysit. Eventually, I had my own children and was the Volunteer Queen where they were associated. I did anything and everything for the kids that went to school with them (PTA, GS Troop Leader, Field Trip Chaperone, Classroom Parties, Newsletter, Yearbook, Plays/Productions: Scenery, Costumes, Props & Assisted the kids with their lines & stage movements. I absolutely loved it! I received a bachelor’s degree in commercial art so anywhere I could bring creativity into play, I was there! Once my own children got a little older and it wasn’t “cool” for Mom to be at school everyday, I moved on to After Read more School Programs & Daycare Centers. I’ve worked with infants up through almost high schoolers. I was always certified in First Aid, Communicable Diseases & CPR but would need to get recertifications now. Whether with my own children or in a work/volunteer situation I’ve provided homework support, prepared meals, cleaned house; including laundry, bathed, potty trained & cared for ill children. I do not have experience with special needs kids, however recently adopted a “special needs” dog. He was in a hoarding situation, abandoned & shoved in a van for days on end; possibly weeks. Needless to say, he’s quite skittish towards everyone and everything (poor baby). We’re working with all of that at a slow, but steady pace. As I mentioned earlier, I’ve always had a love for animals & children. That’s been a constant for as long as I can remember. I look forward to giving parents peace of mind as a babysitter or nanny. I also moved in with & cared for my Grandmother (with Alzheimer’s) as a 5th year senior in college. That was a little rough but I wouldn’t change it for the world!
