Hi! I just graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in psychology, and am pursuing a career as a juvenile [forensic] psychologist. I work part time in a pediatric ER in Minneapolis as a behavioral assistant, where I work 1:1 with kids facing various mental health and/or behavioral challenges to make sure they are safe. I also volunteer at the Minneapolis Crisis Nursery, where I help care for kids aged 6 and younger to be safe and happy while in emergency respite care. I've always been naturally good with kids, and find it very rewarding to work with them. I've been a babysitter for ~7 years and it's only made me more passionate about working with kids. I have a lot of experience in and out of the hospital working with kids with ASD, mental health, and/or behavioral challenges. As for my "rules" while I'm babysitting, I limit Read more screen time as much as possible and focus more on activities (playing outside, building forts, board games, reading, etc). I try and help foster age-appropriate independence and self-confidence in basic things like cooking, cleaning, etc. For example, I encourage kids to help me make dinner and give them age-appropriate tasks e.g. having a toddler pick their own plate, or a 9 year old help prep and plate food! I find things like these to be very important in helping kids become confident and more sure of themselves as they grow up, and notice many positive changes in these areas for them. I currently make my own schedule at the hospital with no minimum required hours, so I will be able to put your scheduling needs first and be available when you need me. I am fully vaccinated for COVID + the flu and I do not smoke or vape in any capacity, so will be able to meet the basic health needs for your home!
