Hello! My name is Danette Vernon. I come from a larger family, I had three children myself, and I’m now a proud and happy grandmother. I owned a green-living daycare in SC for five years (2013-2018). We had chickens and long mornings at various parks, libraries, and then maybe a picnic lunches at the local boardwalk and observation tower. We often ventured out on bigger excursions to children’s museums, the zoo, or local farms for pony rides, or to pick our own strawberries or pumpkins. When the last couple of little girls that I kept went on to school, I went back to social work. In the end, however, I really missed the days I spent with small children. So I’m returning to providing limited daycare service. Professionally, I completed college with a degree in Sociology. I worked as an outreach provider with families for most of my professional career.
