Working with children is very meaningful for me and I enjoy supporting them in all their interests and challenges. As a tutor, I believe that every child has curiosity and imagination which are the ingredients for intelligence and problem solving. During college I oversaw an afterschool activities program for elementary children and learned how to provide a safe environment and listen to children in times of difficulty as well as times of joy. Working for the Parks and Recreation afterschool program furthered my knowledge and experience. I also like to use games and other tools to make learning and accomplishing tasks fun. I realize that children are learning all of the time. For this reason, I always have a calm demeanor and approach every conversation with sincerity and thoughtfulness. I think listening is the most important thing a person can do. When we are truly seen and validated, it changes how we view ourselves and how we see and participate in the world.
