Worked with at-risk youth (teens) at Boys Hope Girl’s Hope as a Residential Counselor. Oversaw the daily routine of 8 boys…school transport, homework, chores, meals, shopping, encourage/participate in hobbies with the boys, attend parent teacher conferences. The teen boys went to high-level schools and most all went on to college. Worked 3 yrs at Children’s Home of Cinti (3-9 yr olds) with behavioral issues. Gave the children love, structure, discipline, as they were taught new techniques for them to use, to prevent further suspension. Worked last 4.5 yrs as a ‘Manny’ (male nanny). I’ve had clients with twin 15 yr olds, twin 10 yr olds (boy/girl twins of each), that needed transportation & meals due to the mom being a single parent; Another family had teen boys (one boy had regular meltdowns…that i handled without any difficulties). The busy parents needed assistance for summer recreation activities…fishing, walks in park, shopping Read more mall, browse at pet stores. Another family had teen boys needing transportation to & from vocational school & to golf tournaments. Another family where the mom did not drive…so I took her to shop at Kroger & Farmer’s Mrkts…and to her baby doc appts, since she had a newborn girl & a husband who worked long hours. Another family has a 9yr old who needs picked up from Goddard, then taken for a meal, then to soccer or football practice. Assisted with homework for the boy too. Another family had a freshman boy going to a high-level high school. He was on the football team, and needed assistance with homework, by giving him structure (teach him study skills, organization of planner, and encouragement to talk with teachers & study buddies). Another single parent mom has twin 13 yr old boys who I take to & from their autistic school they attend, and transportation to & from their Summer Camp. I assist in feeding, dressing, of the boys, plus take them on walks & play video games & other activities with them. Another family has a 2yr old & 9 yr old (and the mom has a baby due this month). Took the boys for walks, to the park, played with 2yr old (and their 9yr old). Helped with meals, school pick-up, changing diapers, nap time, etc. I also see my 5yr old grandson regularly…I take him to various parks, playgrounds, putt-putt, ice cream, lunches (burgers, tacos), & looking for bugs & lizards. I’m also assisting an elderly woman to get to & from her hair dresser appts, and then take her out to lunch.
