CHILDCARE EXPERIENCE: •Over three years experience (as of 7/2025) working occupationally in Early Childhood Education as a staff or substitute teacher’s aide in licensed preschools, daycares, and child development centers all over San Diego County. Currently working through a preschool staffing agency, and have worked in 77 preschools, 21 elementary schools, and counting! •Served as volunteer children’s Sunday School teacher at our Baptist church for nearly 30 years in classes ranging between kindergarten and 6th grade. •As a Navy Hospital Corpsman, worked on inpatient pediatric hospital ward at a Naval Hospital, caring for children from newborn to age 12. •At age 16, taught a 2&3 year olds' Sunday School class for a year, and nannied a 6 month old infant girl for a summer. •Babysitting for friends and neighbors since age 10, continuing into college and first 2 years in the Navy. SCOPE OF CARE: •Approximately 7 months of experience Read more working with infants and toddlers in just the past 18 months. •Also worked with two year old classes, and extensively with Early Preschool/Preschool (2.5–3 yr olds) and Pre-Kindergarten/TK) (4&5 yr old) classes over the past 3 years. •Although copious experience with children ranging from Newborn through 6th Grade, will consider assignments with pre-teens and younger teens. •Quite comfortable helping children with physical, developmental, or behavioral challenges, medically fragile, or special needs. Have worked specifically with Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, and Autism Spectrum Disorders, as well as birth defects and developmental challenges. •Currently certified in Adult, Child, and Infant CPR and in First Aid. Completed 8 hour nutrition, health, and safety training. FOCUS AND PHILOSOPHY: •Character development is a priority (politeness, honesty, truthfulness, kindness, empathy, patience, sharing, personal responsibility) •I also focus on instilling and nurturing an early love of reading. I love to read to children! Even while children are still too young to read themselves, I read TO them. I want them to know that there are exciting things to be found in books! I always bring with me a good supply of special books for them to enjoy! PERSONAL: •Married 41 years and counting! •Raised 4 children, (3 girls and a boy.) •Have 4 little grandchildren (again 3 girls and a boy, ages 9, 8, 6, and 18 months,) living in San Diego area. •My wife and I are Christians, and serve in our local church.
