Greetings parents! My Name Is Amarah. A little about myself, I am a New Yorker by birth. My family and I relocated to Bowie Maryland over 14 years ago where I grew up. I found my way back to New York shortly after graduating from college with a Bachelors of Arts. While in college I kept myself very busy being heavily involved with campus life. I was a class officer serving as the 2016-2017 Senior Representative to the Organizational Board, weekly on air radio talent for WHOV 88.1 The Essence of Hampton University radio station, a Member of National Association of Black Journalist, secretary for HerCampus which is an International College Girls Blogs Site and last but not least coordinator for many children's based community service activities. With understanding the importance of time management I was able to juggle my extra curricular activities while remaining a Dean's List student. The Read more saying goes “home is where the heart is” and now I’m back in the Big Apple upon receiving a job offer in advertising. While growing up in Maryland I was extremely active in school as well as the community. My love for kids started at an early age and I began sitting at the age of 15. I was a member of Jack and Jill of America INC. The premise of Jack and Jill is to create a medium of contact for children which will stimulate growth and development and provide children constructive educational, cultural, civic, health, recreational and social programs. I was elected for several leadership positions including: President, Second VP, and secretary of the Prince George’s County Chapter. While being in Jack and Jill for nearly 13 years I had the honor of babysitting several of the children in other age groups. While in high school I took two Child Development classes where I had one on one interactions while children 2-7 years old. I was able to teach the children the fundamentals of the following: math, english, science, reading, music and art. I constructed weekly lesson plans for the children that I would execute on my teaching days. Although i've relocated and work professionally in Advertising. My love for kids hasn't changed and I still babysit/nanny part-time. My spare time is committed to helping the less fortunate, and spending quality time with my family and friends.
