I am a college student very interested in getting to know your family better. I started to seek out babysitting jobs around age 11 among neighborhood families. By age 13 I found myself in charge of running my family church’s childcare program entirely by myself. I planned craft activities and led groups of children, up to 12 at a time, in outdoor play. More recently, I underwent training at Jack London State Historic Park to lead trail walks for kids. I sought out additional training to serve as a nature interpreter to groups of small children. My most recent job before the quarantine was at Petaluma’s beloved Lala’s Creamery, which had me handling customer experience in walking children, the majority of the clientele, through their orders. My favorite part of the job was being able to speak with my child regulars as they spun in their barstools about their sundaes Read more and their day. Since leaving, I’ve been able to focus on school and make staying safe a priority. I’ve also been able to work a child development course in my schedule. Though I live alone, my proximity to at-risk family members in town has been reason for me to continue to seek out semi-regular testing. Raised with my grandmother, a long-time local teacher and librarian (just one facet of a well-founded dedication to pedagogy in my family) I have always had a unique fascination with books, and retain a good number of my own childhood classics in my own expansive library. Despite being proficient reading and writing pre-school age, in adulthood I’ve been diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD, both of which give me a different outlook on learning difficulties. In my spare time, I tend to my garden and pond, bake, and hike with my dog. I look forward to speaking and hope to be able to find a way to fit in as of service to your family.
