Hi! My name is Keiko, and caring for kids has always been one of the greatest joys in my life. I attended Oklahoma State University, where I majored in Business Management with a concentration in Human Resources. Later, I felt called to healthcare, so I switched paths, attended nursing school, and earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I recently got engaged and moved to Edwardsville, IL, and I’m currently waiting to start my first nursing job as a Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse. I’ve always had a passion for children and even had a hard time deciding between teaching and my other degrees. Ultimately, I chose different fields — but I knew I would always find ways to be around and work with kids. Nursing allows me to do exactly that! Throughout college, I led the Foster Youth Advocates Club and worked as a support person in a Pre-K classroom Read more that needed extra hands, especially with the littles. I also spent 10 weeks as a camp counselor at an overnight camp for children ages 5–13, where campers stayed for two weeks at a time. That experience gave me a deep understanding of caring for kids on a long-term, consistent basis. Alongside school, I worked with many local families doing school pick-ups and drop-offs, dentist appointments, after-school activities, haircuts, and everything in between. I love helping families in any way I can, and I take pride in being a positive role model for the children I care for. I truly believe it’s a privilege to be part of a child’s life and childhood — even in small ways — and I aim to create a safe, supportive, and fun environment for every child I meet.
