I wish to utilize my skills and background creating, owning and operating a daycare and my love of children to a new career of being a nanny. I have been commended by many parents on my loving care. My family and I moved to Georgia from Pennsylvania in July, 2020 for my husbands career. I managed my home based licensed daycare for 13+ years. Cared for, guided and taught 6 children full time, ages 2 months to 6 years of age, as well as school age children before and after school. Earned a CDA (Child Development Associate). Received certificates in Early Child Care Education classes from Penn State Extension. Created and implemented all daily curriculum. Have an understanding that play promotes curiosity, discovery, and problem-solving which helps develop a positive self-image. Curriculum was based according to children's needs and interests, individually and as a group, and with the preparation for Read more kindergarden readiness in mind. Observed children to get to know them individually and in a group. Observations and Assessments played a large role in planning curriculum. Updated parents on findings, and a goal was set to reach the next milestone. Every 6 months parents were given a report on children's progress. Enjoyed spending one on one time with children which brings a closeness and helps children feel important, cared for and confident in themselves. Looked for child's interests and tried to expand upon with indoor and outdoor activity. Enjoyed sharing the curriculum I created and watching children's psychological, emotional, behavioral, social, physical and educational skills grow. Enjoyed the creativity that children showed when doing our daily crafts and activities. I use positive discipline. Giving a child alternatives to a problem, listening to what they have to say, expressing understanding to their feeling, asking if they need a hug and redirecting, I feel is the best way to discipline. I feel the most important part of being a caregiver is making sure a child feels important, cared for, loved and safe. When a child feels trust and secure in their environment only good can happen. Showing interest in what a child is interested in and finding activities to expand on that interest helps a child learn. Provided a loving, caring clean environment. Prided myself in developing a great rapport with families. Most importantly, I loved the children as if they were my own. References are available upon request.
