Hi! I'm Joy and I am an energetic bilingual (Spanish) caregiver with many years of experience across all ages, from infants to teens. I currently work at Trader Joe's part- time and occasionally babysit for a family with 3 boys, (the youngest of which is non verbal and has Autism and Down syndrome), whom I have been with for 11 years. I have a B.A. in Spanish and an A.A.S. in Occupational Therapy Assistant Technology and used to work in the rehab dept. of a nursing home as a COTA. I grew up in Portland, Oregon and I absolutely love the outdoors, metro parks, animals, music, and arts & crafts....tons of crafts! (I carry around a box of craft materials in my car at all times, and kids know me for this). I also enjoy children's books, the library, board games, and trampolines. In addition, I still like to climb Read more trees and play hide and seek, sing, dance, goof around, and be silly when silly is called for. I have worked as an assistant early childhood education teacher at the Mandel JCC and volunteered as an English teacher for 1st thru 12th grade students while living abroad in Costa Rica. I am CPR/first Aid certified and tons of fun, but I don't forget to enforce rules, teamwork, and cleanup . (I trained with Amy Speidel to learn "Conscious Discipline" and continue to get coached by her). If your kids are young, you will often find me on the floor playing and recalling what it was like to be that age.
