I have been a caretaker all of my life. I’ve cared for my mother since the age of 6, when she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and have aided her through disease progression, physical therapy, and chemotherapy. At the age of 10, I began babysitting for neighbors and friends, and established a rotating clientele of 15 children between the ages of 0-6. During this time, I also helped care for my 6 younger cousins and younger siblings of friends. At the age of 13, I began nannying for a family I’d previously babysat for. I took care of the children through their morning and after-school routines, extracurricular schedules, homework assignments, weekend trips, at the parents’ social events, and on days when the parents worked from home. Although I lived in the same neighborhood as this family, I often served as a live-in nanny due to the family’s needs. During this time, I also volunteered at a nursing home, aided pre-k, kindergarten, and 1st graders at a summer camp, worked with adolescents competing in summer and winter special olympics, and maintained my babysitting rotation. I went on to graduate college with a degree in Cognitive Philosophy, a minor, and 2 certificates in 2020. I then went off to law school, having graduated in May of 2024. During this time, I continued to care after my mother, younger cousins, and nephews, and worked countless legal and service industries jobs to support myself through schooling. Since graduating law school, I have spent the past 1.5 years simultaneously working as a law clerk at a family law firm - where I advocate for children in contentious custody battles, guardianship matters, and domestic violence situations - and studying for the bar exam. Unfortunately, I have not passed the bar exam yet, and am left feeling burnt out from academia and the legal realm. I’m looking to resume nannying duties for the foreseeable future to establish some work-life balance, tap back into direct care instead of fighting judges and opposing counsel at every step of the way, and to recharge. I do not intend on retaking the bar exam any time soon, so I have open availability to work part-time or full-time, up to 45 hours per week. In addition to childcare duties, I’m happy to contribute as a housekeeper, organizer, personal assistant, tutor, and pet caretaker.
