I'm writing as a friend of Mikaila; she has also provided childcare for my 3 kids. While it is true that I would trust her to keep my kids for any length of time - a date, or several days - the real reason for that is hard to quantify in a list of skills. It has been our friendship that has taught me the most important piece of information regarding her qualifications: Mikaila has - at her core - a genuine love and interest in protecting and nurturing children and animals. Child care is not just a vocation or hobby for her; Mikaila views and treats children as whole and valuable identities, worthy of the same respect and consideration as her fellow adults. As a stay-at- home parent, I have the opportunity to see paid providers out and about with children. I see how they interact with children, and I hear what they say to their nanny colleagues. Behind closed doors, with her close friends around - Mikaila gushes over the children she cares for. I have never heard her say a negative thing about the children or the parents. She delights in the activities and experiences she has with children. Outside of her paid work, she continues to champion children: hosting a monthly Tea cups and Trailblazers (women making a difference in our world) for young girls; attending recitals and birthday parties; proudly displaying photos of children within her social circle in her home. My children consider Mikaila to be part of our family. If you are considering working with her, you will not regret having her as a part of yours.
