Hello! I am an artist and educator. I’ve worked with children in various capacities my entire life. Currently I teach K-8 Art at a local elementary school. Before my career in the arts and education, I learned first hand child care as the oldest of nine. My Mom was an awesome teacher. These experiences include being the oldest of 9, teaching K-8 art, and most recently was the High School Program Director at Metro Achievement Center (an after-school program for inner city teens that focuses on character development and academic enrichment). My teaching philosophy targets holistic child development. This includes but is not limited to the mental, social, spiritual, academic, and personal growth of each child, fostering curiosity about the world, critical thinking, and most importantly, the child’s sense of dignity. Engaging a child's imagination and encouraging play that develop age appropriate motor and verbal skills with in these different Read more areas are key to helping the child flourish. Technology disclaimer: TV, video games, cell phone apps/games, and computer time all have their purpose in a day but I don't let kids spend the whole day rotating between these activities. I value open communication with parents and/or guardians, in order to foster a happy environment for all parties. I'm currently looking for one-off babysitting positions or temporary hours for a few months. I'm saving up for a fun travel opportunity at the end of the year. I would love to give you a hand with your munchkins!
