To begin with, I LOVE kids and I'm VERY good with them. I'm silly & playful while still ALWAYS being the adult in charge! I have boundary lines and expect children to respect them, while also teaching them to have appropriate boundary lines and that they should expect respect. I have always believed that you must be able to communicate effectively with children, using words to get what is wanted and needed. For example: I need children to do their homework! It's my responsibility (and pleasure) to get them to do their own work, with any appropriate guidance, etc from me. I won't ever do it FOR them, but help them realize why it's important that they do their own work, and complete any parental chores that parents have requested. I reward them with game time (no screens!) with me/ & siblings, play time outside, visits to the park, etc. Read more I always babysat as a teen, young adult, I raised my family and MANY kids who were friends of my daughter's. My home was ALWAYS full of kids, because although I have always had rules, I believe that being able to relate to kids, on THEIR level, is imperative. Manners are important to me... kids either call me Ms. Julie, or Gigi... as most kids think of me as their fun grandmother. I'll cook or bake with them, be outside with them, attend their practices and games. In essence, I become a member of the family and THAT fills my heart!
