I worked for four years at a daycare, working with children ages three months old to five years old, creating a comfortable and safe environment for children to grow and learn emotionally, socially, and cognitively. I then worked as a nanny for an elementary school aged girl for three years, taking her to and from school, making meals, helping with school, taking to sports, and often went out to parks, museums, the beach, etc. We had a great bond, and I was privileged to assist her in growing and learning about life with someone whom she loved and trusted, and make time to see her still today. I work currently as a substitute teacher in the public school systems, working with elementary through high school aged students daily. I can provide amazing references from all of these jobs as well. I grew up homeschooled, which gave me deep love for Read more going out and exploring the world, learning through hands on experiences, meeting people of all backgrounds and lifestyles, and I value kindness, inclusivity, curiosity, and authenticity very highly. I am CPR certified, have worked with children of all ages and have experience in varying degrees of special education and special needs. I have my associates and bachelors degree in psychology with a minor in art, and focused as many classes as I could on childhood development after starting college at 16. I spend any time I have that I'm not working or studying going to museums, painting, roller skating, reading, crocheting, or hiking. I have always been very bookish and never engaged in any behavior dealing with alcohol, drugs, or partying, which set me apart from most of my peers in high school and college, but all my friends are nerdy like me, so it worked out. I know how frightening, worrying, and upsetting it can be for a child to trust and bond with a new adult who is not their parent, but I have feel confidence in my ability to make children comfortable with me. I highly value a child's independence, who they are as a person, what they care about, while guiding them and being responsible for their behavior in a firm, warm manner. I truly love getting to be someone a child can trust to look out for them and take care of them when their parent is not around, it is why I went into the psychology field. I can't wait to get to know you and your family!
