Being a mother of three (now grown up) boys, I have hands on experience of all aspects of parentIng. However, I also have extensive experience with all ages through paid employment. The formal qualification I hold (obtained in the UK in 2005), is an HND in Childood & Youth Studies (Higher National Diploma), which is a level 4 qualification and equivalent to an Associates degree here. Following completion of my HND I worked for a year in a pre-school for children aged between 2-4. I planned and set up activities, observed the children and participated in writing individual reports for parents. For my next job I ran a breakfast, after school and holiday club for children aged between 4-11. I planned and set daily activities, catered for snacks and participated in group and individual activities with the children. After a family move, I began to work within a school setting Read more working 1-1 with a young boy diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome who was having difficulty integrating with his peers. By the time the young boy moved to a new school, three years later, he had fully integrated with his peers and was ready for a new school environment. During this period I also undertook agency work during evenings and weekends for an organization focussed on keeping 'at risk' children within their family unit. These families were under a court order and 24 hour supervision/ observation was required along with weekly chronological reports that were needed for court proceedings. As you can see I have a vast and varied experience of working with children of various ages. I find children of all ages fascinating sponge like beings that never fail to surprise us adults! I have lots of experience in coking with children and love playing board games!
