My name is Mason Solomon and I'm a 27 year old musician from New York City who's been living in Nashville since August of 2023. My passion for working with kids started at a young age after many years of incredible experiences going to sleep away camp as a camper. That then transitioned into several fantastic years of working at that same camp as a counselor and then part of the head staff team. After majoring in film production in college, I moved from NYC to Pittsburgh where I taught preschool (2-4 yrs olds) at the Jewish community center, full-time for two years straight with the same co-teacher while also beginning my music career outside of the classroom. Then I decided to make the move to Nashville to continue my musical pursuit. I initially taught at the Gordon JCC preschool for the first several months of living here while I Read more was getting settled in, then took about a year and a half off from teaching, before returning to it most recently at the Gardner School (Marriott location) for 8 months. There I started as an assistant in a classroom of 18 2-3 year olds before becoming the lead teacher of that same classroom. Ultimately I left because I realized that, while I loved teaching in a classroom, I would much rather be focusing on 1 to 4 children at a time than 18. I also wanted a chance to grow with kids as opposed to handing them off once they reached a certain age. I'm very much looking forward to working with one specific family instead of juggling several with varying degrees of involvement. While childcare is one of my major passions, the dream still rests as a career musician and I would be happy to talk more about what that looks like if we get the chance to. That being said, I REALLY love playing music with/for kids as I would often do in my classrooms and at camp, so my guitar will definitely be present if that's something you and your child/children are interested in. When I'm not with kids or playing music, I love playing basketball and cuddling with my dog Pouncey (who also loves kids). Being a part of someone’s family is something I take very seriously. Your kids are my kids and working together on what’s best for them (and you) is my number one priority. I also value transparency and constant communication and that's what you’ll be getting from me from day one. I can’t wait to learn more about your family and how I can fit into it!
