I'm a young grandmother of 18 grandchildren, a step-mother of 5 and mother of 3. Now all of the kids are grown and live elsewhere, so I have time to care for other children. I've been a Scout leader, child-care provider, 4-H mom, assistant art teacher, assistant biology teacher and substitute teacher (pre-K through high school). I love kids and enjoy caring for them and nurturing them. I have really enjoyed the long-term child care positions I've taken in the past and the kids that I've cared for have been great! In 2008 I completed English and Art History B. A. degrees. I enjoy doing creative things with children as well as activities and outings if appropriate. Between raising my own family, providing childcare and substitute teaching, I have an appreciating for children with different personalities and of different ages. I have also been a guardian ad litem for children Read more in the foster care program. Recently with some of the kids that I cared for we created a homemade fort out of cardboard boxes and homemade curtains. We also typically played board games, cooked, went to parks, on bike rides and walks and went swimming. We read a LOT as I encourage an appreciation for reading and learning. I'm also good with creating routine and consistency, and DO take advantage of the fact that I'm a new person in the children's lives! I respect individual personalities.
