Hi There! 👋✨ My name is Alyssa Burnett and I am 35 years old. I identify as queer, am a playful spirit who is glad to be here on this planet, and am grateful for my path which has afforded me the privilege of working with children and adolescents in many forms. Working with our youth has always been my path. I am currently living near Seattle, Washington. I’m originally from the Midwest but have been living in the PNW for the past 12 years, with 8 of those years spent in the magical San Juan Islands. I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Middle Childhood Education in 2013 and am currently a licensed educator in the state of Washington. I substitute taught in both Seattle and Portland Public School Districts during the years when I wasn’t living in the San Juans. Additionally, I was an assistant teacher at Read more a holistic school located on Orcas Island called Salmonberry School for a few years. This being said, my work with children and adolescents extends far beyond the classroom. I have found myself in many, many households as both a babysitter and nanny over the years. It has been a joy and an honor to be part of so many families’ lives. The bulk of that work was during my time in undergrad, though I spent a year nannying on the San Juans in more recent years. I feel privileged to have been formed by a camp in Northern Wisconsin. I was a camper there for 8 years before I became a counselor. I worked there every summer as a counselor until I was in my early 20s and then became the program director at this same camp for 2 years. Camp taught me a lot about working in collaboration and community and the importance of play. I love the outdoors and believe children should be amongst the trees, building fairy houses and imaginative worlds. Additionally, I have worked with a nonprofit called, “Turning The Wheel”, where I got to travel around the country spreading creative embodiment and play to children ages 8-98! 😉 Find more here: https://www.turningthewheel.org/who-we-are Lastly, I went back to school and earned my MA in Counseling psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. I graduated in 2023 and currently have a VERY small virtual practice, working mostly with teens. Sharing self regulation, relational, and social skills with the youth I come into contact with is one of my greatest joys in life. I have a big heart, and I would love to share it with your children.
