I believe that the knowledge and skills that I have gained in previous positions have prepared me for the position. I bring a passion for youth work, my authentic self and commitment to my community that will translate well into my work. I have worked with young people who have been diagnosed with various mental illnesses, of different cultures, and socioeconomic backgrounds. I worked approximately 10 years at a nonprofit called Neighborhood House as a Youth Leadership Specialist working with youth 5-21 years old where I participated in evidenced based training, wrote curriculum, recruited youth, facilitated various programs within the community and nearby school and kept track of data amongst other duties. I have worked approximately 5 years at another nonprofit called Guild Services where I worked with young people 15-24 years old who have been diagnosed with at least one mental illness. I worked as a Certified Peer Support Read more Specialist/Case Manager and assisted youth in identifying and achieving specific life goals while promoting empowerment, learning and practicing coping skills, connection to their community and other issues that the participant encountered.
