Hi! I’m Joanna O’Brien, a professional nanny and household manager with over 15 years of experience caring for children from infancy through school age. I’m passionate about creating calm, nurturing, and structured environments that support both kids and parents. My approach is grounded in patience, organization, and a deep understanding of what children need to feel secure and thrive. Since 2022, I’ve been working with the Sachs family in Scottsdale, Arizona, caring for three children, including a set of boy-girl twins. I manage a mix of childcare and household responsibilities—school pick-up and drop-off, meals, laundry, errands, scheduling, organizing, and everything in between. I take pride in being someone families can rely on to keep things running smoothly and consistently. From 2019 to 2021, I worked for the Usery family in Phoenix, caring for their daughter from 5 months to about 2½ years old. I supported her development with routines, play, Read more and safe exploration. I handled meals, naps, bath and bedtime, and took her to activities like swim lessons. It was rewarding to be part of her early milestones and watch her grow. Before that, from 2018 to 2019, I provided care for a baby boy born prematurely who had acid reflux. I started when he was 5 weeks old and cared for him until about 12 months. I supported his development with extra attention to feeding, sleep, and comfort, helping him grow through a challenging first year. My nanny career began with the McAdams family in Glencoe, Illinois, where I cared for two children from newborn through age 8. One of the children had sensory needs, and I worked closely with therapists, attending sessions and using strategies at home to support his development. I also managed the household—meals, errands, schoolwork, doctor appointments, and more. In addition to childcare, I’ve worked in creative roles including floral design and event planning. These experiences sharpened my eye for detail and deepened my ability to multitask—skills I use daily as a nanny and house manager. I’m CPR/First Aid certified and love engaging kids through reading, crafts, outdoor play, music (I play the clarinet!), and crochet. I truly love what I do and take pride in being a steady, supportive presence for every family I work with.
