Hi! My name is Melia! First and foremost, I want to thank you for considering me to take care of your little ones! I know finding quality care for your children is important, and they deserve to be cared for well. I promise to do all I can to do just that. I have over 15 years of combined experience caring for children of all ages. Previously, I was a Personal Care Assistant for 4 years to a young girl who has special needs due to a rare disorder called Rubinstein Taybi Syndrome. She is nonverbal, uses a feeding tube, and has many cognitive and physical disabilities. I greatly value the unique position of caring for her and the experience I gained during that time. Just a couple other examples of care I have provided would be: After college, I was a nanny for 3 elementary aged girls. I transported Read more them to activities, helped meal prep, as well as a variety of other duties. Additionally, I have been a nanny for multiple families with toddlers. I was responsible for daily care, feeding the children, entertaining them, getting them down for naps, and establishing a routine. I have also done some infant care as well. I firmly believe in establishing consistent, respectful boundaries and routines with the children I care for. I believe consistency and positive reinforcement provide a safe and structured learning environment for children. I strive to have open communication with the parents I work for and appreciate the same from them. I studied Sign Language Interpreting at Johnson County Community College and have an Associates of Arts degree from Metropolitan Community College. I am proficient in American Sign Language, maintain CPR certification, have a clean driving record, and have many references upon request. In the personal realm, I am married and have 2 active nephews, ages 3 and 6 years old. I love reading with them, taking walks, going to the zoo, playing at parks, and all the goofy interactions that come with two wonderful boys. I enjoy being active and sharing my love of the outdoors with kids. I truly enjoy watching children grow and become their own little person through everyday activities. I enjoy seeing their little brains develop with simple everyday interactions and realizations. Thank you again for your consideration and I look forward to the opportunity to care for your family. :) Melia
