When I worked with the children, I often felt as though I were experiencing childhood again—seeing the world with fresh curiosity and renewed wonder through their eyes. Their enthusiasm made every day meaningful. I took great pride in creating engaging, hands‑on experiences through arts and crafts, ensuring that each activity felt new, exciting, and enriching. Watching their creativity unfold and witnessing their joy in discovering something for the first time was deeply rewarding and reaffirmed the importance of the work I was doing. I previously worked for the Boys & Girls Club of America, where I served as an Art Teacher, Performance Teacher, Soccer Coach, and also led Department of Justice–supported classes on gang prevention. It remains one of the most rewarding roles I’ve ever held. Although the position wasn’t high‑paying, it was rich in purpose. In addition to my professional experience, I also devoted several years to raising my two children, who are now adults. During that time, I took a year off to prepare one of them for kindergarten, and it remains one of our most cherished memories. We created our own structured “Mommy School,” where we practiced reading, learned the alphabet, tied shoes, painted, colored, played, and incorporated a daily rest routine. It was a meaningful period that strengthened their early development and allowed me to contribute directly to their growth in a hands‑on, intentional way.
