Hi I’m Kristin! I am 21 years old and I have been working with and spending time with kids for as long as I can remember. My mom was a nanny and passed down her love of childcare to me! I started working as a mother’s helper at age 9, and as a babysitter at 12. I continued working as a mother’s helper for several years with different families. At age 14 I began working at a homeschool co-op and taught the preschool class where I provided a learning activity and supervised playtime. I also assisted in another teachers class for preschool to elementary kids who stayed while their sibling participated in higher education classes. We had story time, crafts and supervised playtime. I worked in that position for 4 years. I have also assisted in caring for a foster/kinship child that was staying with my family for 2 years. Read more I taught some of her homeschool subjects such as reading, spelling, art, piano lessons, and history. I am now searching for a part time job! Let me tell you more about myself! First and foremost I am a Christian. I am also a naturally minded person, “crunchy” shall we say. I love art and different crafty hobbies! I currently am making jewelry for my small business I started last fall. I love music, I play the piano, violin, sing, and I also dabble with the mandolin. I am still trying to teach myself that. I really enjoy reading! When I’m not busy in the summer I will be out in the sun reading a book. I used to play club volleyball and still love a good game. So how does all of that translate to childcare? I can provide age appropriate activities and crafts for your kids! Think sensory bins, making a winter hat craft with construction paper and handmade pom-poms, a canvas in a clear bag with paint so your little ones can have a mess free sensory experience, for your older kids pony beads and pipe cleaners to make corn for fall. I can also teach beginner music lessons to your kids! I am a big supporter of authoritative parenting style when dealing with kids! Gentle parenting is typically the phrase used but I use it with caution because it has received a bad rap as people confuse it with being permissive. I am all about appropriate boundaries while still respecting kids as individuals with thoughts and feelings! I look forward to hearing from you!
