First of all, I am a single mom. I retired from the medical field in 1999 so I could work in my daughter's daycare as a lead infant teacher in the nursery. I started as a temp., but loved it so much, I decided to not go back to the hospital work and start an Early Childhood Education career, caring for families infants daily. I worked in the nursery for 7 years caring for 4 infants and training new teachers and supervising the care of the remaining 10 infants. I was hired as a private nanny from one of our families from the daycare in 2008 and have continued caring for families in the west county area of St. Louis where I live. I enjoy helping families with new babies and their toddlers, which is fascinating and rewarding for me. I totally get how new moms feel when they have Read more to leave their babies and return to the work force full-time with their infant cared for by a stranger. I have experienced the same fear and worry when my daughter was three months old when I had to return to work from maternity leave. I have college credit hours in Early Childhood Education and have had success teaching 6 toddlers a preschool curriculum. I enjoy helping new parents with daily care of their newborns and have used and purchased just about every infant product. I have daily experience with bottle feedings with breast milk and formula, baby food, diapering, swaddling, sleep training infants, and teaching and reaching infant milestones. I have experience teaching infants to crawl, talk and walk and found it to be very rewarding. Yes, babies do tend to say DaDa first. I believe in a daytime schedule and keep a daily log on the infants day for parents to review which includes diapers, bottle feedings, baby food, and soft table food. I also have experience caring for NB twin infants. I am CPR certified, first aid certified. I have 16 years of FT experience as an infant nanny. I plan on continuing my care of all babies until I can no longer physically do it. I really cannot realistically think of doing any other career as I find this so rewarding.
