Hello! My name is Ellie, I am a rising fourth year student at the University of Virginia. I am studying psychology and American Sign Language, and I hope to be a Licensed Personal Counselor in the future. I have over two years of experience working at a daycare, caring for children ranging between newborns and school age. I have the most experience in the infant and 3-5 yr range, but I have also worked with children with special needs, children with severe allergies, and children from diverse backgrounds. I have lots of diaper and potty training experience, as well as an understanding of safety and basic first aid. Crafts, reading books, going to the pool/park, playing with toys, academic games, etc. My favorite nanny moment… My favorite memory working in childcare is reading books to my 3-5 year old students at my former daycare—specifically Chicka-Chicka-Boom-Boom! Additionally, I really enjoyed teaching my students letters of the alphabet and seeing how proud they were when they could name a word that starts with a certain letter! The most important part about being a nanny… Being empathetic and patient with children, and ensuring that they feel heard and supported while they are away from their parents. It is important to me to be a caregiver that the children can look back on fondly, and I hope to watch them grow-up even beyond my time working with them.
