My name is Mel, and I have over twelve years of professional nanny experience in Chicago. In addition to my experience working with children of all ages, in December I completed a Master's in Childhood Studies at Swansea University, Wales. I have also completed the extensive Newborn Care Specialist class through Gentle Ventures, and have created and taught my own Newborn Care class designed for first time parents. I have recently expanded the manual for this class to be entirely comprehensive, with extended sections on parental well-being, something I feel which is often neglected. This class now provides 15 hours of parenting education, and covers all relevant topics, including feeding, healthy sleep, nursery preparation, general care, soothing, overcoming judgement and guilt, and more. I also provided sleep consultations prior to pursuing my Master's, and have successfully sleep trained many babies. I am nearly fluent in American Sign Language, so I Read more can assist with sign introduction and early communication facilitation. I am also conversational in Spanish and am learning French, Italian, and Welsh. I'm CPR certified, reliable, intelligent, and I have excellent references from my current and previous families.
