Hi families! My name is Virag Murphy, and I’m a recent graduate of Johns Hopkins University, where I earned a B.A. in Public Health Studies with a focus on Population, Family, and Reproductive Health. I’ve moved back home to Reston, VA, and will be spending the next year here during my gap year before starting medical school. During college, I volunteered over 200 hours with the Child Life Department at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. In this role, I supported children from infants to adolescents through therapeutic play, arts and crafts, and games, tailoring activities to each child’s needs to help reduce stress and anxiety, especially in the hospital setting. Before college, I babysat for three years, caring for elementary-aged children during summers and school breaks. I also worked as a swim instructor at Goldfish Swim School, teaching children ages 3–12 how to swim and stay safe in the water. I Read more am a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) and hold a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. I’m currently seeking occasional or weekend babysitting opportunities and would love to continue working with families if schedules allow.
