My name is Chevon Derrick, and I’m a dedicated and experienced nanny with over 10 years of hands-on childcare experience. I’m currently a student at Hunter College studying Nutrition and Food Science, and I bring a strong background in both individual and group child care to every family I work with. I began working with children at age 17 with a summer job at a large after-school center in Brooklyn. That experience sparked my passion for caregiving and led me to become a nanny in 2014. Since then, I’ve cared for children ranging from 6 months to 15 years old across New York City—offering structure, creativity, and loving support. In March 2015, I began working with two wonderful girls (ages 10 and 11), picking them up from school, taking them to tutoring and dance lessons, and helping with homework and school projects. Later that same year, I started caring for Read more two more girls (ages 7 and 9). Currently, I work with a bright and energetic 5-year-old boy. Our days are filled with learning through play, curiosity, and lots of creativity—this role has further deepened my passion for early childhood development. In addition to private nannying, I’ve worked at daycares and at Friends of Crown Heights, where I supported classrooms, supervised trips, and helped children build academic skills like reading and writing. I’ve also helped children complete summer reading assignments, school projects, and navigate social development through hands-on play and exploration. Coming from a large Caribbean family, I’ve helped raise many younger cousins—an experience that taught me patience, leadership, and the joy of watching children grow. While I’m an only child, I’ve always had a caregiver’s heart. I love incorporating my passion for cooking and baking into childcare, whether it’s preparing meals, grocery shopping together, or baking something fun as a bonding activity. I also drive and have my own vehicle, which makes transportation and outings reliable and stress-free.
