My name is Monica and I'd love to discuss the possibility of my caring for your child(ren). I have great nanny and am fully vaccinated since May 2021. Here is some background on me: I live in Fort Greene (12+ years), am a freelance writer working from home and have great flexibility. I'm the eldest of 5, so have significant experience in childcare and I truly adore kids. Recently, I have been nannying since September for an amazing 9-year old, as well as dog-sitting when the family is out of town. This summer will be her first time at sleep-away camp, so I am looking for a summer position. Previously, I worked for an amazing family of two kids, 10 and 7, though the hours the family needs is not as much as the original position, and thus led me to another incredible position. I also recently babysat, on an Read more on-call basis, for another family in Brooklyn; three children, ages 8, 5, and 18-months and they enthusiastically invited me to return to work for them in addition to my primary position. I especially love the elementary age group and dogs. :) I've nannied for a 5-year-old boy in Park Slope, whom I picked up from after-school care every Wednesday (though he was temporarily away out-of-state during the quarantine). We walked back to his home, and then had playtime and story-time along with a snack, and then prepared dinner, bathed him, and then helped settle him into bed. Once he was asleep, I would clean, and if it would be a late night for his mother, I'd stay late, as needed, and often read. I have a masters from Columbia University, a BA and BS from the University of Wisconsin, and a background working in education. I also can honestly say I really love cooking and cleaning and helping a family run its smoothest. Personally, I enjoy writing, reading, jogging, and the arts. I find deep joy in working with families, striving to serve in any way possible. I’m kind, patient, empathetic, playful, an active listener and believe in respecting children, hoping to help to foster their growth as kind, curious, and happy individuals. I also do all I can to help home life run smoothly for the whole family. I'm encouraging, yet gentle, respectful and responsible and I always maintain a calm demeanor in challenging situations. Should you think I might be a good fit, please let me know. Warmly.
