I am Emily, an energetic, nature-loving, holistic, nurturing, and organized career nanny-mom. I have 10+ years of professional experience with children as a child counselor, ESL teacher, nanny, babysitter, and in-home daycare provider. I have extensive experience with special needs children. Prior to my professional experience, I babysat for countless families throughout my youth. From the time I was a child myself, I was watching children! More recently, I have become a mother myself! The experience of parenthood has given me a deep compassion and empathy for other parents. I now understand the heavy burden on parents (both in and out of the home), and aim to be a nanny that eases that burden a bit. At the end of a typical day, my nanny children have been feed nutritious meals, have had mental stimulation, have moved their bodies, have had outside time, have been guided in proper hygiene, and Read more are typically tired and ready for their evening! I leave the house tidy and ready for a peaceful night. For this reason, I work best with parents who also aim to have a tidy home--now that I'm a parent I realize how much of an uphill battle this can be! I'm an organized person, and am willing to help in this area, as is appropriate for the position. I have experience with children ages newborn-17 years. All developmental ages bring unique joys and challenges. I love the process and being part of the unfolding! My son, Caspian, is 7-months old and will be with me at whatever position I accept. He is a happy and social baby, who loves other kids! I hope to create a community that allows for safe socialization during the pandemic. A good match could be beneficial for everyone! Being outside and making everyday an adventure is one of the best parts of my job. I love including art, movement, yoga, outside time, music, and free-play into our regular routine. As a child counselor, I completed extensive training in creating a safe and therapeutic environment for children. I believe in a strength-based approach, and encourage children to learn and believe in their natural interests and talents. It is common for me to be on the floor frequently during my shift, immersed in play. I love learning about their inner worlds through their own creative process.
