Hello, I have a fun-loving, patient, and kind approach to nannying. I will provide peace of mind that your child(ren) will be well taken care of, safe, nurtured, and engaged while they are in my care. I have eight years of experience as a nanny, and I have been at my current position for two years. The bulk of my experience has been caring for infants, toddlers, and pre-school aged children, but also have experience working with elementary ages as well. I utilize outdoor time, reading, arts & crafts, and developing physical and mental skills that are age appropriate. With infants and young toddlers I focus on developmental milestones and engaging the child in ways that please them. For older toddlers and pre-school aged children, I like to use a weekly format of focusing on a topic and exploring it in several ways. For instance, in the fall we might Read more focus on apples and take an outing to an orchard, read books about apples, do crafts with or about apples, make applesauce, sort apples by color or other characteristic, etc. This is a useful way to focus their learning in a fun and creative way. I also love to play pretend and engage their imagination in new and exciting ways. That being said, I also really value sleep schedules and ensuring their minds and bodies get the rest they need to thrive, and they maintain a consistent schedule that helps them flourish. I am happy to work with parents/primary caregivers on their schedule so that we are on the same page. My approach to discipline is to be calm yet firm. For young ones, I usually try to say something simple like "be gentle" or "stop" and then redirect them so our energy is being fed into something positive and constructive. For about 2/3+ I will use time outs or whatever is preferred by parents, and do so in a calm way. I of course would never use violence or yelling. I love being a nanny, and have valued my relationship with each of the children I have cared for. I love to see developing personalities blossom.
