Hello! My name is Yamai, and I’d love to be your sitter. I’m currently a graduate student at Johns Hopkins University, where I’m pursuing my Master of Science in Public Health. I also hold a BA in International Studies with a minor in Public Health from American University. In addition to my childcare experience, I bring over four years of professional work experience in higher education and public health, which has strengthened my skills in communication, organization, and responsibility, qualities I carry into my work with children and families. I have nearly two years of consistent experience watching a 12- and 14-year-old for occasional date nights, and I’ve worked with younger children in a variety of settings. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, I supported four different families by providing distance learning support and care for children ages 6 to 8. I also volunteered for five years at East Read more Silver Spring Elementary School. There, I assisted in the aftercare program with students in grades K–5—helping with homework, playing games, and supporting their daily routines. I spent additional time in a kindergarten classroom, assisting with administrative tasks and working directly with 4 and 5 year olds. For three summers, I worked as a camp counselor with Montgomery County Recreation, leading a group of 9- to 12-year-olds in games, activities, and crafts. I’m a patient, outgoing, and dependable person who genuinely enjoys working with kids and helping them thrive. I’d love the opportunity to support your family as an occasional sitter.
