Hello, my name is Mara & I'm currently a college student majoring in Psychology at UNL. I’m looking to be an occasional sitter & help for individuals/families. I have a passion for working with kids, building positive relationships with the youth, and being an influence in their lives. I have previously worked in an early childhood daycare center called Adventure Academy for a year from 2022-2023 that provided experience working in an environment with all ages (infant to school age). I also currently have experience babysitting/nannying for multiple families here in Lincoln and have been doing so since 2023! As of now, other positions that I hold that include working alongside children (and require background checks before acquiring the position, that to which I have documentation of) I volunteer with the Royal Family Kids summer camp & mentoring program as well as participate in the America Counts/Reads program as a Read more student tutor within selected elementary schools in town. Within the student tutor position, we are expected to assist individual or small groups of students (K-5) who need extra support specifically in areas of Math & Reading. Some certifications include that I’m fully background screened, take part in camp counselor & mentor training to mentor foster care kids through RFK. I also have training in First Aid/CPR/AED, but I'm working to get my certificate renewed as it expires every two to three years. Not to mention, in order to support the funding for my education and living expenses, I also hold a serving position at a restaurant as a part-time job. Some other certifications that are unrelated to childcare happens to be my Food Handlers Permit & ServSafe Alcohol training (restaurant requires obtaining both permits and has taught me the importance of food handling/safety, how to maintain cleanliness especially of an establishment, judgment on when someone’s impaired, quick decision-making, etc.) I would be more than happy to answer any questions that come up, just to get to know each other more! I have an eagerness to apply my skills wherever I’m placed & I am excited to meet & build a positive relationship with anyone who is willing to work with me :D
