I have worked many years as caregiver in a variety of areas: babysitting children ages 6 months through adolescence; maintaining safety of elderly folks with dementia spectrum disorders, working with chronically mentally ill adults.. Have provided family therapy with focus on communication and behavioral (parental and child) concerns. Many of the skills I have as a mental health professional would generalize quite well in a family setting. I have also worked as personal assistant and legal secretary. I am a nurturing person who likes to help people feel safe, respected and well cared for. I am thoughtful, and resourceful and enjoy a challenge. I believe that I can provide a healthy, fun and well-rounded care environment for your child(ren). I am respective of parental rules and household structure. I don't rely on "electronic" babysitting; am not afraid to get messy or be silly while playing. I have a good sense of humor Read more and can laugh at myself too. To me, reading, coloring, art, and dress-up are fun; but so are mud pies, playing with pets and digging holes in the sand. In other words, I feel the best way to foster learning, fun and confidence is to interact with child(ren) via a play therapy model. I have behavior modification experience from working with children with a variety of mental health diagnoses. My preferred mode of therapeutic intervention is play therapy.
