I am not the type of babysitter who sits and watches your child play independently; I like to engage your child. I am known for my nurturing, energetic nature; and I strive to make a impact in the lives of the families I work with. I have worked with children from 2-18 years of age of various backgrounds including ASD, behavior disorders and cultural backgrounds. In addition to aiding your child/ren with homework, chores, and discipline; at your request, I can provide beginning/intermediate flute, violin, ELA tutoring and theatre/acting lessons for an additional rate. My students have been accepted into the top NYC Arts Schools and academic schools. I bring a unique work-experience with exceptional references that are available upon your request. *** Barika Edwards has been an extraordinary presence in our life. She has been the overseer of our difficult and somewhat erratic daughter between the ages of 11 and 14. Barika has been steady, tolerant, mature, able to absorb a good bit of verbal abuse. She has been flexible, which was enormously helpful to our situation of an erratic girl who sometimes needed someone to step in earlier in the day than anticipated or at a different location. At times, Barika shadowed her while she hung out with her friends and became friendly with her friends, which at times proved enormously helpful. Although our daughter bucked up against being monitored, she also came to trust Barika and to confide in her. Barika showed maturity and judgment in handling that task. On the practical side, Barika was willing to take our daughter and her friends on excursions to the beach, amusement parks, and other places they wanted to go by subway and by car.
